Biography

Paul Phillips has tried and won cases in Georgia State and Federal courts since 1993. He has successfully litigated a wide variety of cases, representing clients catastrophically injured or killed by medical malpractice, vehicular and trucking negligence.

Paul graduated from Middlebury College in 1987 cum laude with a B.A. in Philosophy and Physics. He then worked in New York City as a product liability underwriter for a specialty lines insurer before law school. He earned his law degree from the College of William & Mary's Marshall-Wythe School of Law in 1993. After graduating, Paul joined the Atlanta law firm of Drew, Eckl & Farnham, focusing on product liability, property, and medical malpractice litigation. In 2000, he moved his family to Albany, Georgia, where his practice focused primarily on medical malpractice, and trucking defense. Since 2007, Paul has devoted his practice to representing seriously injured clients, and clients whose family members have lost their lives due to the carelessness of others. Paul has also represented numerous children and adults injured as a result of others’ negligence at schools and other institutions.

Paul has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1993. He is licensed to practice in all trial and appellate courts in Georgia, as well as the Federal District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the 11th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the Dougherty Circuit Bar Association, and numerous professional legal associations.

September, 2024: Nurse’s Negligence – Home health nurse’s negligence caused fire which destroyed client’s home and personal belongings. Substantial Confidential Settlement.

August, 2024: Medical Malpractice – Hospital radiologist misread an x-ray showing golf ball-sized tumor, resulting in metastatic sarcoma cancer, pneumonectomy, and reduced life expectancy. $7,500,000. settlement.

January, 2024: EMS Malpractice – EMT and paramedic’s negligent delay caused additional injuries to a patient with airway obstruction. $200,000. settlement.

April, 2017: $20.5 million jury verdict in Houston County, Georgia. Pope v. Akorn, Inc. Medical Malpractice, Pharmaceutical Injury - Our client, Ann Pope, suffered Serotonin Syndrome, a serious central-nervous system reaction caused by the combination of Defendant Akorn, Inc's drug, Methylene Blue, and a prescription medicine Ann was taking. The drug company, Akorn failed to include a warning that its Methylene Blue had this dangerous side effect.
